Coral Reef Restoration

Coral Guardian

Coral Guardian is an international non-profit organization dedicated to coral ecosystems' conservation, awareness programs, and science. We work in partnership with local communities to restore local biodiversity and to encourage the sustainable management of marine ecosystems.

Coral Reef Alliance

The Coral Reef Alliance (CORAL) is a non-profit, environmental NGO that is on a mission to save the world’s coral reefs. We work collaboratively with communities to reduce direct threats to reefs in ways that provide long-term benefits to people and wildlife.

Coral Restoration Foundation

Coral Restoration Foundation is a nonprofit ocean conservation organization restoring coral reefs, educating others on the importance of our oceans, and using science to further research and monitoring techniques. Through our innovative techniques, such as our coral tree nursery methodology, we are able to actively and successfully grow previously dominant, reef-building corals in our nurseries and outplant them onto the coral reefs.

Coral Vita

Coral Vita protects threatened ecosystems by growing diverse and resilient corals and outplanting them into degraded reefs. They craft reef restoration plans tailor-made for clients' needs and local conditions, working with resorts, eco-tourism operators, governments and marine park managers. You can support their efforts by adopting reef fragments. Based in the Bahamas.

Global Coral Reef Alliance

The Global Coral Reef Alliance is a small, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to scientific research and sustainable management of the most valuable and threatened of all ecosystems—coral reefs.

NOAA Coral Reef Conservation Program

The NOAA Coral Reef Conservation Program brings together expertise from across NOAA for a multidisciplinary approach to studying these complex ecosystems to inform more effective management. We work closely with NOAA scientists in the National Ocean Service, National Marine Fisheries Service, Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research, and National Environmental Satellite, Data and Information Service.

The Ocean Agency

We're a nonprofit organization focused on innovation in ocean conservation. Our mission: To be an accelerant for ocean science and conservation. We use the combination of creativity, technology and powerful partnerships to raise the awareness and support necessary to help fast-track action.

The Reef Institute

The Reef Institute works actively in research in multiple areas directly related to coral health and growth, protecting the diversity of our oceans. Our educational programming seeks to bring people of all ages from awareness of marine conservation to learning to better steward the ocean at large. This is accomplished in a myriad of unique and creative ways.

Reef Resilience

Through a growing network of managers and experts, the Reef Resilience Network connects individuals at the front lines of coral reef conservation with peers, content experts, tools, and operational knowledge to address threats and mobilize action for improved coral reef health.

Reef Revive

We're funding new artificial reef projects for thousands of species within U.S. waters. Using 3D printing technology, we are building beautiful underwater sanctuaries which create homes for ocean life and draws tourism away from natural coral reefs, giving them a chance to revive.

Ocean-Based Climate Change Efforts

CEA Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement report

Since 1984, CEA Consulting has helped transform business practices, public policies, nonprofit organizations, and philanthropic strategies to improve environmental outcomes. Our work is guided by a deep knowledge of the scientific, regulatory, political, social, and economic underpinnings of our most pressing environmental problems.

I/Ocean

The Liquid Grid (TLG) was founded in 2016 to study society’s relationship with energy, ocean technology, and sustainability. Its mission is to facilitate the transition to a sustainable blue economy using clean energy technologies by educating businesses, communities, and entrepreneurs on the latest issues, trends, and opportunities.

Ocean artUP

Ocean artUp aims to study the feasibility and effectiveness of artificial upwelling in fertilizing ocean productivity and enhancing energy transfer to higher trophic levels with the potential of raising fish production. Ocean artUp will further investigate the impacts of artificial upwelling on biogeochemical cycling, including carbon export potential, and air-sea gas exchange of climate-relevant gases.

Ocean-based Climate Solutions

Ocean-based Climate Solutions, Inc. ("Ocean-based") is focused on leveraging and amplifying the ocean's natural countermeasures to climate change. The oceans cover 70% of earth's surface, and absorb up to 50% of excess CO2 from fossil fuel emissions. But recent studies suggest this natural carbon sink is declining due to warming. Our suite of ocean technologies can help restore and amplify these natural processes without any negative impact on marine ecosystems.
